Celine Esquivel has been named Fifth District Woman of the Year in North Los Angeles County. She was recognized with the honor by Fifth District Supervisor Kathyrn Barger late last month. Esquivel is a local entrepreneur, who founded the San Dimas Cake Company in 2012.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit Los Angeles County, Esquivel’s small business experienced a host of challenges. However, that did not stop her from participating in the San Dimas Chamber of Commerce’s “San Dimas CARES community program.”
“Sitting back and doing nothing wasn’t an option,” Esquivel said before explaining that she cooked hot meals for seniors and others in need every Friday, paying all the costs herself.
“I know with women like Celine leading the way, Los Angeles County and our small business community are in caring, capable hands,” Barger said.
