Funeral services are scheduled Saturday in Sacramento for Aubry Lee Stone, the former president/CEO of the California Black Chamber of Commerce (CBCC), who died Nov. 28 at age 74.

Services will be conducted at Calvary Christian Center, 2667 Del Paso Blvd. Viewing will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. with the funeral taking immediately after. A special memorial and tribute service will take place from 2 to 4 p.m.

During his tenure with the CBCC, Stone worked aggressively in fighting against such public policy issues as Proposition 187, fought against attempts to establish state-run citizenship screening, advocated against insurance red lining, spoke to the impact of bank acquisitions in the inner city, and was a vocal advocate of investment within the Black community.

Stone also served as director of the California Black Chamber Foundation. Under his leadership, the organization became owner of the state’s only Black-owned and operated low-powered radio station (KDEE-FM 97.7) which served the Sacramento region and streamed online nationwide. He received the Sacramento Observer’s Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of a lifetime of service to the African American community.

Stone formerly served on the California Regional Community Utilities Diversity Council, the Citibank Regional Community Board, the Pfizer National Minority Business Board, the California Small Business Advisory Board, the Cal-Trans Small Business Board, and was a member of the Greenlining Coalition. He also served on the boards of the NAACP, Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce, Mayor’s Economic Development Council, District Attorney’s Community Relations Board, and the State Fair Minority Council.

The Stone family requests that in lieu of flowers, mourners please make a donation to the California Black Chamber of Commerce, 1600 Sacramento Inn Way, Suite 232, Sacramento, Calif, 95815.
