Curtis Granderson to host clinic

Dodgers outfielder Curtis Granderson on Saturday will conduct a baseball clinic from 10 a.m. to noon at the Major League Baseball Youth Academy, 901 E. Artesia Blvd., in Compton.

The Dodgers and the MLB Youth Academy will host 150 young ball players, instructing them in the fundamentals of the game. The Los Angeles Food Bank will provide healthy box lunches for all participants, sponsored by Grand Giving—a Grand Kids Foundation national food insecurity initiative.

Granderson and the Dodgers host the best won-loss record in Major League Baseball this year, and are on their way to a fifth consecutive National  League West Division title.

Granderson received the  Roberto Clemente Award in 2016 for his humanitarian work.  He created the Grand Kids Foundation in 2007 to aid positive youth development through education, physical fitness and nutrition initiatives

To date, the Grand Kids Foundation has hosted more than 1 million youth at camps and clinics nationwide, has raised more than $3 million to provide food to low-income families.
