Slawson Southeast Occupational Center to host job fair today

Need a job? More than 20 employers, who are ready to hire, will participate in a career and resource fair at the Richard N. Slawson Southeast Occupational Center, 5500 Rickenbacker Rd., in Bell, Calif., today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The center is one of 11 public adult schools offering low-cost, high-quality education and career training. Close to 20 community organizations will also offer assistance.  Looking for a new opportunity? Get help applying online for positions at L.A. Unified and Los Angeles County. Attend demonstrations by the plumbers and painters union. Workshops include: resume-writing, job-search strategies and a special presentation on immigration rights by the Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights of Los Angeles. Adults, and students who are at least 16 years old, are welcome.

The job fair is offered in partnership with the Los Angeles County Workforce Development Aging and Community Services Board, Hub Cities, and Huntington Park America’s Job Center of California.

At Slawson adult school, students can earn a high school diploma, prepare for the high school equivalency exam, learn English or prepare for more than 20 different careers. Part of the L.A. Unified Division of Adult and Career Education, the Richard N. Slawson Occupational Center is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
