Alan Wright named senior vice president of Cathay Bank

Cathay Bank recently announced the appointment of Alan Wright as senior vice president and team manager of business d evelopment. In his new position, Wright will lead an experienced team of commercial bankers focused on providing solutions for growth, acquisitions, recapitalizations and traditional financing needs for middle market companies throughout Southern California.

“We are pleased to have someone with Alan’s professional experience and academic credentials join Cathay Bank,” said Shu-Yuan Lai, executive vice president and chief lending officer at Cathay Bank.

“Alan’s hiring reinforces our commitment to better serve the financing needs of our customers and businesses in Southern California and ensures the continued growth and success of our business development division.”

Wright brings more than two decades of experience in corporate banking with regional and national financial institutions. Most recently, he was first vice president of the corporate banking group at California Bank & Trust.

Wright holds dual undergraduate degrees in history and American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles and an MBA in finance from the Graziadio School of Business at Pepperdine University. He has also completed programs in accountancy from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and in real estate at the Lusk Center for Real Estate at the University of Southern California.

Wright has been active in numerous community and business organizations throughout his career. He currently serves as a member on the board of directors and as the treasurer of the Habitat for Humanity Greater Los Angeles. In 2015, he was honored by President Barack Obama with the President’s Volunteer Service Award for his work with the organization. Wright is also a member of the graduate chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.
