Main Street—Disneyland style—is coming to Lancaster. The Side Street Strutters have been a mainstay at the Magic Kingdom for 22 years and they’ll bring their musical stylings to the Lancaster Performing Arts Center at 8 tonight.
They’re a swing band that alternates between jazz, Dixieland, blues and ragtime. Named in tribute to the quaint side street of the French Quarter in New Orleans, the group has delighted audiences across the United States and in Europe, appearing with major symphony orchestras in such cities as Houston, Atlanta, Phoenix and in Rochester, N.Y.
Expect to hear classic tunes by Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Count Basie along with a selection of famous novelty songs. Dance numbers and an assortment of rare musical instruments are also part of the show.
