Family, friends offer reward

The family and friends of Frederick Martin have put together a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot and killed the 28-year-old Inglewood father as he shielded his 8-year-old son from gunfire.

Martin, 28, was shot about 7 p.m. April 3 in the 3200 block of West 109th Street, and died at a local hospital.

Inglewood Mayor James Butts announced the reward at a City Hall news conference attended by Martin’s family.

Info sought in killing of M-Bone

In an effort to catch the killer(s) of young rapper Monte Ray Talbert, the city of Inglewood is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the individual(s).

Talbert, also known as M-Bone, was a member of the popular group Cali Swag District, and died May 15 after suffering gunshot wounds as he was coming from a store in the 400 block of North La Brea Avenue in Inglewood.

James Ryan Dominguez

WILMINGTON, Calif.—A $50,000 reward was announced today for information leading to a conviction in the vehicle-to-vehicle shooting death of a motorist in Wilmington.

James Ryan Dominguez, 26, was shot about 5:45 p.m. May 18 as he sat in the driver's seat of a black 2000 Ford Explorer at a red light on northbound Wilmington Boulevard at Pacific Coast Highway, said Los Angeles police Officer Fernando Rivas of the Harbor Station.

Ira Koger

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The Board of Supervisors today offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to whoever fatally shot a 21-year-old Inglewood father in front of his home.

Ira Tyrone Koger was sitting in his car in front of his residence in the 800 block of West Beach Avenue at about 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 25, 2010, preparing to leave for work, when a car pulled up alongside. Someone inside asked what gang Koger was in and then shots were fired. Koger died at the scene.

Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas recommended the reward.

Joshua Montes

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The Los Angeles City Council approved a $75,000 reward today for information leading to the conviction of whoever fired the shot that killed a 22-month-old boy in the arms of his uncle, who was critically wounded.

Joshua Montes and uncle Josefat Canchola were on a porch facing a backyard in the 1200 block of East 55th Street about 8:30 p.m. Monday when they were shot, police Capt. Mark Olvera said. Both suffered head wounds.

The shots were fired from the east side of Hoover Street, about 40 yards away, police said.

Yvette Hollingsworth was recently named chief compliance officer for Wells Fargo & Co. Hollingsworth, who most recently served as managing director and global head of operations compliance and financial crimes compliance & risk management for Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank, will begin her new role on June 1, 2012. Hollingsworth will be based in San Francisco, and will report to Caryl Athanasiu, executive vice president and chief operational risk officer in the corporate risk group. As chief compliance officer, Hollingsworth will be responsible for ensuring that all areas of the company meet compliance management responsibilities and abide by all applicable laws and regulations. Her team will continue to provide independent oversight of business-based compliance management activities.

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) issued the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Los Angeles attorney Paul Watford to serve on the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals: “It is great news that the Senate has confirmed Paul Watford, an exceptionally talented attorney, to serve on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has a breadth of experience as a former prosecutor and a top appellate litigator and will make an excellent addition to the federal bench. However, I am very disappointed that more of my Republican colleagues did not join us in backing this highly qualified nominee.” When Watford is sworn in, he will be only the second African American serving on the Ninth Circuit.
