Section 8 residents targeted

LANCASTER, Calif.—A few weeks ago Mayor R. Rex Parris said something at a Lancaster City Council meeting that rubbed some residents the wrong way. Residents were perturbed by the vote and are anticipating some conflict between themselves and local officers. Many people spoke out at the Lancaster City Council meeting last Tuesday, expressing their concern that the ordinance is unconstitutional. He has a breadth of experience as a former prosecutor and a top appellate litigator and will make an excellent addition to the federal bench. However, I am very disappointed that more of my Republican colleagues did not join us in backing this highly qualified nominee.” When Watford is sworn in, he will be only the second African American serving on the Ninth Circuit.
