Grade crossing maintenance at 103rd Street, April 24-28

 Los Angeles, CA -- Metro Blue Line service will experience service delays due to rebuilding of the intersection at the Metro Blue Line alignment and 103rd Street, between Graham and Grandee Avenues in Watts, from Friday, April 24 to Tuesday, April 28, as part of the Metro Rail grade crossing maintenance program.

Social networking website has 16.5 million users

Radio One Inc., one of the nation’s leading broadcasting companies targeting African Americans, has purchased a popular social networking company, Community Connect Inc. (CCI) for $38 million.

CCI is known for its social networking sites targeting ethnic Americans online such as BlackPlanet.com—which ranks the fourth in Hitwise’s 2007 “Top US Social Networking Sites—MiGente.com and AsianAve.com.

$135,000 in trash bags seized

One of the more curious manifestations of dysfunction in the downtown area has been the presence of a free market area for criminal enterprise in the vicinity immediately surrounding the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Central Division, in which law enforcement is made difficult because of the sheer number of illicit activities being committed in that particular locale.

Working to get others involved in educating young Black men

The Motivated Men of Dorsey High School is a nonprofit organization committed to community collaboration and social responsibility through its efforts to prepare the young men at Dorsey High School to be effective communicators, critical thinkers and life-long learners. As a collaborative of alumni, parents, faculty, staff and community members, the organization’s objective is to foster positive relationships with the young men in an effort to close the achievement gap, increase test scores, and lead them to a successful high school experience.
