Dance to the top

The Compton Dance Theatre Foundation is a non-profit organization comprised of a training program and a community dance program. Its mission is to provide training in classical, contemporary, and cultural dance forms to residents within the City of Compton and its surrounding areas, especially “at-risk” youths between the ages of 8 to 18.

Santa Monica police Sgt. Jay Trisler said his department was aware of the reports regarding Viacom.

LOS ANGELES, CA – Law enforcement agencies around Southern California are increasing patrols around entertainment studios in response to the failed car bombing in Times Square, which may have been targeting Viacom.
A depiction of Muhammad on “South Park” apparently enraged Muslims, whose religion forbids any image of their prophet. Viacom’s Comedy Central produces the televised cartoon.
“New York is another wake-up call to us in the U.S.,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca said.

The California Young Democrats (CYD) is the official youth sector of the California Democratic Party, comprised of progressive people ages 14-35. The California Young Democrats are committed to creating a unit of young voters who will continue to elect Democrats for years to come. By campaigning with one another, the Young Democrats have made momentous differences in races all over California.

French filmmakers tickle Americans

The film capital is at our backdoor, and the beauty of that scenery is that it’s not limited to works by and about Americans.
City of Lights-City of Angels (COL-COA), which celebrated the 14th annual Week of French Film Premieres in Hollywood is a case in point. With 28 new feature films and 20 new shorts in the competition, this year’s  COL-COA showcases French cinema’s ability to constantly reinvent itself.

Working to get others involved in educating young Black men

The Motivated Men of Dorsey High School is a nonprofit organization committed to community collaboration and social responsibility through its efforts to prepare the young men at Dorsey High School to be effective communicators, critical thinkers and life-long learners. As a collaborative of alumni, parents, faculty, staff and community members, the organization’s objective is to foster positive relationships with the young men in an effort to close the achievement gap, increase test scores, and lead them to a successful high school experience.
