Thanks for the, uh . . . compliment?

A friend recently told me something incredible: “Someone just came up to me and said, ‘You are really beautiful for a Black guy.’ I said excuse me? And they said, ‘Yeah, you’re sexy for a Blacky.”’ My mouth hit the floor. “That is not a compliment,” said Romeo Ballayan about the friendly White woman, who strolled over to him and began to engage in casual conversation.

Music industry and its obsession with complexion

For many years within our community, there has been a distinct definition of beauty that has penetrated our society. It has affected the way we view ourselves, and the way we view others, and has contributed to an increase of self-hatred.

You

A sense of security , is what you give to me
Love, kindness and passion I deliver to you calmly
No aches, pains or worries enter my heart when you are near
A strong, confident yet humble man, is how you appear
My heart is now open to you and is yours when you call
My eyes beam, my face glows and glistens as I fall
Deeper and deeper in love with you . . .
Not to mention, the sincerity of your words
Have me high, to the point I feel I am flying (sigh …) yes like the birds
