LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The family of 31-year-old twin sisters struck by a car while fighting in a Leimert Park street issued a statement today asking that people avoid speculation regarding the circumstances surrounding their deaths and “consider how medical conditions might affect any of us.”
Tanisha R. and Tamaya J. Davis were struck about 3 a.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of Leimert Boulevard and died at the scene.
“The altercation they were having ended up out on the street somehow,” Los Angeles police spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said. “They were both struck by a vehicle.”
The family’s statement did not indicate what medical condition may have been involved or specify whether it affected one or both sisters.
“Our family has suffered an unimaginable loss of our loved ones ... They loved each other dearly and have always been best friends. We caution against speculation in this matter, and ask that people consider how medical conditions might affect any of us,” the statement says.
According to the family, Tanisha was a teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District and Tamaya was enrolled in a dental assistant program and was thinking of applying to the Ostrow School of Dentistry at USC.
Both sisters attended Crenshaw High School and Prairie View A&M University, according to their relatives.
“These beautiful young women are so much more than the sum total of the tragic incident that claimed their lives on Jan. 13. We are so grateful for the outpouring of love and support, and realize how much our beloved twins meant to the Leimert Park Community, and certainly their family and friends,” the statement says. “Our family will continue to find solace in the lord, and
appreciate your continued prayers. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”
The family said funeral services were pending.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Two 31-year-old twin sisters were killed early Sunday when a fight between the two spilled out onto the streets of Leimert Park and they were struck by a vehicle, police said.
The fight and fatal crash occurred around 3 a.m. in the 4200 block of Leimert Boulevard, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Police today asked for the public’s help in locating a missing 82-year-old woman from South Los Angeles who may be in need of treatment because of a medical condition, her family told police.
Fannie Luesendy Brown was last seen by her brother about 8:30 p.m. Friday at her home in the 1000 block of East 33rd Street, near Central Avenue.
Brown has brownish gray hair and brown eyes, weighs 130 pounds and stands 5 feet 6 inches tall. She has a dark complexion.
