Rapper M-Bone from Cali Swag District killed
"Teach Me How to Dougie"
INGLEWOOD, Calif.—Inglewood police today were searching for a suspect and a motive in a shooting that killed rapper M-Bone.
The shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of north La Brea Avenue, according to Inglewood police Lt. Michael Marshall. The rapper, whose real name was Montae Talbert, was sitting in a car outside a liquor store when the shots were fired.
He was taken to Harbor UCLA Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
M-Bone was a member of the Inglewood-based group Cali Swag District, which shot to fame with the release of "Teach Me How to Dougie,'' which set off a wide-ranging dance craze.
The coroner's office gave Talbert's age as 19, although various online sites reported he was 22.
The band released a statement to TMZ.com, calling M-Bone the "victim of a random act of violence.''
M-Bone "was an inspiration to his family, friends and fans,'' according the band's statement. "He was a hardworking, passionate artist and dancer that will be deeply missed.''

Inglewood police are continuing to sift through hundreds of tips they have received in the search for information or witnesses to the killing of 22-year-old Hip Hop artist Montae Talbert.
Police say Talbert was shot twice in the head Sunday at about 10:30 p.m. while sitting in a car outside a liquor store in the 400 north block of La Brea Avenue.
Talbert, popularly known as M-Bone, was a founding member of the Hip Hop group Cali Swag District, best known for the single “Teach Me How to Dougie,” released in April 2010.

INGLEWOOD, Calif.—A $10,000 reward will be offered today for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever killed a 28-year-old man in Inglewood as he shielded his 8-year-old son from gunfire.
Fredrick Martin, 28, was mortally wounded April 3 in front of his home on West 109th Street, just west of Crenshaw Boulevard.
“Fredrick Martin was killed shielding (his) son from gunfire,” said family spokeswoman Jasmyne Cannick, adding that his family is now “on a mission to find his killers.”
In an effort to catch the killer(s) of young rapper Monte Ray Talbert, the city of Inglewood is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the individual(s).
Talbert, also known as M-Bone, was a member of the popular group Cali Swag District, and died May 15 after suffering gunshot wounds as he was coming from a store in the 400 block of North La Brea Avenue in Inglewood.
