Mitrice Richardson may be in Las Vegas
Los Angeles woman has been missing since September 17
LOS ANGELES, Calif.— Mitrice Richardson, missing since she was released from the sheriff’s lockup in Calabasas on September 17, may be in Las Vegas, according to police there.
Richardson, 25, was arrested for not paying her bill at Geoffrey’s restaurant in Malibu, where she reportedly was displaying signs of manic depression. She was released shortly after midnight without her car or her purse and has not been seen since.
Her disappearance initiated massive searches of the canyons between the coast and the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s station. However no clues to her whereabouts were found.
Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said the Las Vegas police and the L.A. County Sheriff Department will hold a joint press conference today to “tell Ms. Richardson she is not in any trouble and is not subject to arrest, but please contact us.”
Whitmore would not confirm a report from Michael Richardson, the woman’s father, who said a deputy told him there were about 80 sightings of his daughter in Las Vegas.
Both of the woman’s parents are suing the Malibu Sheriff’s Department and Los Angeles County.
Michael Richardson also said that sheriff’s deputies discussed with him the possibility that his daughter was working as a prostitute, and he said it was possible that someone was keeping her from contacting her family and friends.
The 11-month search for 24-year-old pageant winner, and Cal State Fullerton graduate Mitrice Richardson came to a tragic end recently, when her remains were found by park rangers who were looking for illegal marijuana plants in a Malibu ravine. She was found no more than two miles out of the range of the last major search for her.
Mitrice Richardson, the 24-year-old woman who disappeared after being released from the Malibu-Lost Hills Sheriff Department station in Agoura on Sept. 17, 2009, is resurfacing in the headlines after the latest search’s questionable findings.
The most recent search for Richardson, which covered the areas where she was last seen, came to an emotional pause, when the more than 100 members of the volunteer search party, including Richardson’s family, stumbled upon a freshly painted mural featuring her likeness.
