Los Angeles Department of Transportation suspends traffic officers accused of filming porn while on duty
Employees on paid administrative leave
LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The Los Angeles Department of Transportation said today it is investigating allegations that two of its employees were involved in filming a porn movie, now circulating online, while on duty.
The department placed the two employees on paid administrative leave.
"The Department of Transportation does not condone or tolerate unacceptable or inappropriate behavior from any of our employees,'' said LADOT General Manager Amir Sedadi.
"The allegations involving these two individuals in no way should be taken as representative of the nearly 600 professional Parking Enforcement and Traffic Control Officers in the department.''
Sedadi said that once the investigation is completed, the department will take the necessary disciplinary action.
The film, first reported by NBC4, reportedly depicts two uniformed, on-duty LADOT traffic officers interacting with a porn actress. One of the workers allegedly spanks and fondles her and another allows her into a city vehicle where she fondles herself, according to the station.
NBC4 plans to air a report on its investigation on its 11 p.m. newscast.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—The City Council voted unanimously to approve Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa’s choice to lead the embattled city Department of Transportation.
Villaraigosa nominated Jaime de la Vega, one of his top deputies, to take over the department, which was the subject of scathing audits and embarrassing headlines throughout April and May.
LOS ANGELES, Calif.—In a decision that could put a dent in the Southland’s famed pornographic-film industry, Los Angeles County voters approved a requirement that adult film actors wear condoms.
The “Safer Sex in the Adult Film Industry Act” requires adult film producers to apply for a permit from the county Department of Public Health to shoot sex scenes. Permit fees will finance periodic inspections of film sets to enforce compliance with the requirement that performers use condoms while engaged in sex acts.
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif.—The Los Angeles-based AIDS Healthcare Foundation announced a petition drive today to get a city ordinance on the June ballot that would require porn actors to wear condoms.
“At present, animals working in film and TV productions in Los Angeles enjoy more safety and health protections than adult film performers do,” according to Michael Weinstein, president of AHF. “There are laws and state statutes to protect adult performers, but there is no real enforcement.”
LOS ANGELES, Calif.—Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced the completion today of a five-year effort to convert all of the city’s traffic lights and pedestrian signals from incandescent bulbs to LED lights.
Villaraigosa said the LEDs are about 85 percent more efficient than traditional lights, and the conversion will save the city about $4 million annually.
