 Between the current economic malaise and the inauguration of America's first black president, one would think that racial divisiveness would lessen. Given LA's long-standing multicultural makeup, we should be the first to notice any improvements. Personally, I've always thought that LA was a special place - at least among the citizens. The government, institutions, and broadcast media make it difficult for social changes to percolate to the surface, though.
