FUNdraising Good Times

Successful fundraising for a nonprofit requires the full commitment of board members, the executive director, staff, and volunteer leadership. Without this commitment, it is very difficult to meet fundraising goals. People may say they are committed, and that is good. What is more important is the extent to which people embody that commitment.

Farmers cut back production

No matter if they’re honey-dipped, sauce-slathered, mild or volcanic, chicken wings will cost more for Super Bowl party hosts and pub patrons across America this year.

That’s mainly because the most severe and extensive drought in 25 years blazed a path of destruction through the Midwest during the sizzling summer of 2012. It damaged and destroyed major portions of fields, caused crop prices to rise and created a domino effect on overall food prices.

The fear of private speaking

We’ve all heard the statistic that people fear public speaking nearly as much as they fear death. That’s odd to me. I have no fear of public speaking. When I address an audience, I’m standing in my core competence. I like to tell stories, and funny stuff comes to me to say. I just can’t be stopped. OK, now take that same confident, competent woman and put her in the middle of a networking cocktail party, and it’s a whole ‘nother ball of wax.
