LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Trading in shares of Herbalife, a Los Angeles-based nutrition company, was temporarily halted today amid reports that it is about to disclose that KPMG will have to resign as its auditor.

In a related story, shares of shoemaker Skechers USA, symbol SKX, also was halted.

“Leave the park to the public”

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Fees to film in downtown’s Grand Park will remain $20,000 per day per block for now, as county officials today postponed a decision to temporarily drop or dramatically reduce the charge.

Sarah Walsh of the Motion Picture Association of America said the fee has created “a major disincentive to film in the county of Los Angeles.”

Ventura County set to prosper

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — An ordinance requiring men to wear condoms in porn films shot in Los Angeles County appears to be driving some producers to Ventura County, but it’s not immediately clear if they’ll be welcome.

The city of  Camarillo received several calls last week inquiring about temporary film permits and asking whether it also had a condom ordinance, Assistant City Attorney Don Davis told the Los Angeles Times.

Looking for investors

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Fisker Automotive Inc., a high-end electric car manufacturer now looking for investors, has furloughed employees for a week to conserve cash, it was reported today.

Callers to Fisker's Anaheim office were greeted Thursday with a message advising that the office was closed Friday, March 22, and would remain closed through Sunday, March 31, the Los Angeles Times reported. The furloughs came just two weeks after the company's founder, Henrik Fisker, resigned as
executive chairman amid a management dispute.
