L. A. County Business Federation formed
The Los Angeles County Business Federation, or BizFed, was announced Tuesday by a coalition of about 44 organizations representing more than 70,000 businesses employing more than 1.2 million people.
One of BizFed’s primary services will be to host a Web site that will offer businesses a forum to voice concerns and will also provide the e-mail addresses of area politicians so members can then contact them – en masse.
The creation of BizFed is being seen by some as a move against the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor.
BizFed states that they are not anti-labor, but rather pro-business with a strong voice.
In a recent survey, BizFed members said their top three complaints were the high cost and loss of productivity due to long commute times; the gangs and violence that threaten small businesses in rough parts of town; and a lack of education in some employees.
