Their images…their stories

Hollywood, CA -- The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center (BHERC) is presenting its 16th Annual “Sistas Are Doin’ It For Themselves” Showcase the last Saturday in March. What a fitting way to wrap-up Women’s History Month.

The March 28 showcase is a series of short films celebrating the talents of up and coming African American female filmmakers daring to add their voices and images to the medium of film.

In celebration of Women’s History Month

Black women are becoming more and more business savvy when it comes to working in the entertainment industry. Today there are a number of black women who realize you can exercise more power working behind the camera as producers, writers and directors.

Vivica A. Fox is a very versatile and talented actress; her impressive career indicates she’s a hard worker and very dedicated to her craft. But she’s also an astute businesswoman.

A few months ago, you made an X, drew a line, flipped a switch, or otherwise indicated which candidate you wanted to see in the White House. Whichever you did, you helped make a first.

Would the next Pennsylvania Avenue resident be the first African American president, or would he govern with the first woman VP? Were you mourning because your candidate wouldn’t be the first woman president? Or did you cast your vote elsewhere, thus making history by not voting for a first-time history-maker?
