Investigation ongoing

PALMDALE, Calif.—Authorities Wednesday identified an 11-year-old girl fatally stabbed in an attack in the high desert community of Littlerock that left her 14-year-old sister wounded.

Paramedics sent to the 10300 block of East Avenue R-14 about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday declared the younger girl dead, county fire Inspector Matt Levesque said.

She was identified as Dahial Lanarus, Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the coroner’s office said.

Local retired couple start their own business.

On the east side of Palmdale, residents often complain of the lack of development, resources, and just nice places to hang out. Some say Wal-Mart is the hangout spot.

A retired couple saw the need and had a desire to stay busy in their retirement, so they established their business in the area. They introduced It’s a Grind coffeehouse last year in a contemporary shopping plaza, but it isn’t just any coffeehouse.

Hymie and Phyllis Glass, 73 and 67, started up their franchise with a mission— to serve the community.
