LANCASTER, Calif.—A fire at a single-family home in Lancaster in which a woman died and her husband was critically burned appears to have been intentionally set, a fire official said today.

The fire was reported at 10:22 p.m. Thursday at the 44000 block of North 12th Street West and was extinguished in 15 minutes, said county fire Inspector Matt Levesque.

A 45-year-old man was hospitalized with critical burns to his back, neck and head, and his 47-year-old wife was killed, he said.
