Time and music shine on Petrella
First lady of Country Soul releases 25th anniversary album
With 25 years of making music under her rhinestone-studded belt, Petrella, the First Lady of Country Soul, celebrates with the release of Shine On Me, a 25th anniversary album (Playback Records).
Petrella remains true to her signature sound with an album that showcases her dynamic vocals and skillful songwriting. From soulful originals like “Working in the USA” to instant classics like “I Like a Man to Drive,” Shine On Me is a musical experience that is uniquely Petrella.
The recording of Petrella’s celebration album brought out many of the music city friends who’ve been part of the artist’s impressive journey. Jack Gale, producer of Petrella’s first album, has reunited with the innovative singer/songwriter/performer, along with Jim Pierce, keyboard player, arranger, and session leader.
As an artist who truly gives back, Petrella’s foundation, Dreams of the Heartland Foundation Inc., helps to underwrite her school outreach programs. Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from Petrella’s performances and CD sales go toward college scholarships for underprivileged children who are either full-time members of their college choir or majoring in music.
One of the most celebrated and honored Black female country artists of all time, Petrella has recorded and released six albums including her most recent “100 Proof Woman.” Her dynamic one-woman show chronicles one woman’s life journey through story and song.
