Commission accepting applications
Learn about local government
Lancaster is currently accepting applications for high school students interested in serving on the city’s Youth Commission.
The Lancaster Youth Commission offers young people an excellent opportunity to learn about local government and play an active role in their community. The Lancaster Youth Commission provides students with a chance to build their leadership skills. Students have the opportunity to facilitate meetings, make presentations, and create a network of resources through their participation in city and community events.
The group meets on the second Thursday of each month to discuss community service opportunities, as well as issues facing today’s youth. The commission also provides insight to Council and city staff regarding the needs of Lancaster’s youth.
Students may self-nominate or can be nominated through a teacher, high school counselor or community leader. To fill out an application, students may visit Lancaster City Hall (44933 N. Fern Avenue) or ask their high school counselor for a program application. Youth Commission applications must be submitted by Friday, Sept. 14.
