In honor of the 136th anniversary of the city’s incorporation, the City of Compton invites all residents to join in a special celebration marking the city's anniversary from 3 to 4 p.m. May 7 at the Compton City Council Chambers, 205 S. Willowbrook Ave.
Compton Mayor Emma Sharif and a number of city officials and community members will be present.
Established on May 11, 1888, Compton began with a population of 500 and has since expanded to nearly 100,000 residents hailing from diverse backgrounds.
The event will feature unique elements about the city’s history, offering attendees a unique opportunity to connect with its past and appreciate its journey over the years. This celebration is a testament to the resilience, diversity, and rich cultural heritage that defines Compton.
